Do you have a summer game plan for your business or music career? Did you set solid goals and are you clear about your next steps? Or is your plan kinda vague?
If you’re feeling stuck or scattered or maybe you just can’t seem to take your talent or your business to the next stage (See what I did there?), get ready! It’s time to amp things up!
Summer strategies for success
One thing I’ve noticed in my businesses and my life is that “To everything there is a season.” Yes, that’s a verse from Ecclesiastes which was later made into a tune by the ‘60’s band, The Byrds.
Things ebb and flow. When one part of my business slows down, another one picks up. In order to keep your sanity, it helps to be flexible. Sometimes, you need to pivot and consider the following:
1) Smaller can be better! Musicians, singers, and speakers: Summer festivals and big conferences and events are generally fully booked at this point. What else can you do? How about organizing small workshops, shows, or events? In my last two podcast interviews, both Joy Ike and Chad Hollister mentioned the beauty of small house concerts. Think about it…
2) Get creative! Coaches and small biz owners: Now is the time to do a special promotion, giveaway, or something fun! You can combine forces with someone else, like my upcoming Sales Strategies for Success workshop with my good friend Joe Novara on 5/16 in Durham, NC (Locals, you won’t want to miss this one!). Or you can do something really creative. Think outside the box!
3) Know your market! Yes, many people are on vacation but that shouldn’t deter you. In fact, some people gear up during the summer. If you work with parents or kids, for example, you might be missing a huge target market that you probably never even considered (Hint, hint!). I’ve gone to several training programs in June, so yes, not everyone switches off their brain and heads to the beach. Speaking of which…
